Safer LisburnWelcome to Safer Lisburn

Safer Lisburn Community Safety Partnership spearheads, coordinates and assists local responses to violent crime (incl. domestic abuse), anti-social behaviour, burglary and other current issues.

The partnership is overseen locally by an independant limited company, Lisburn City Community Safety Executive (LCCSE) with senior representation from Police, Council, NIHE, health Trust and other statutory bodies.

Safer Lisburns 2011-12 community safety strategy, is linked to the Department of Justice Community Safety Unit Regional policy and addresses local recommendations based on relevant recommendations of the 2008 ‘Trigger’ Report and ongoing problem profiles concerning key designated areas:

• Colin
• Derriaghy
• Dunmurry
• Kilwee
• Knockmore
• South Lisburn
• Tonagh

The aims of the partnership strategy are to improve public engagement through Neighbourhood (problem solving), Youth (early intervention) and Communications (personal safety and crime prevention) programmes.

In particular, strategy objectives entail various forms of meaningful and effective delivery mechanisms of engagement and intervention activities with marginalised (at risk and vulnerable) groups, organisations and the general public incl. Community Groups, Schools, Business links etc.

Coordinated by the Safer Lisburn Office and through the core responsibilities of individual partner organisations, Safer Lisburn aims to support people susceptible to attack and/or offending and ensure community leaders and agencies (etc) receive maximum encouragement and/or assistance to reach and engage those most a risk.

Well establshed programme activities are as follows:

• NAGS (Neighbourhood Action Groups) – Problem Solving in Key Designated areas
• Target Hardening – Improving Home Security of Vulnerable People
• Public Cooperation – Improving Reporting, Personal Safety & Crime Prevention
• Effective engagement with ‘at risk’ and/or marginalised young people and offenders
